About
My penchant for writing began early in my childhood with short stories and essays I was assigned to write in school. I developed a love for all things fiction. This soon gave way to an affinity towards music, blossoming into a passionate (if not rocky) relationship consuming my entire adolescence and early 20's.
Before I knew it I was 26, perpetually single, with a "Good Enough Diploma", no savings, and working a soul sucking office job. I began writing again, in my cubicle of all places. This time around I had been influenced by a different type of writer: The lyricist. Any attempt at writting anything other than prose always seemed to fall flat in the past. I began to realize the way I felt about music could be applied to the way I feel about words, and in turn the words provided the structure my music had been lacking.
It was then that I began to truly learn about myself and how I had kept it locked up for so long. And how much it hurt. Life hasn't gotten much easier but I know who I am now more than ever. And I'm not ashamed of sharing it; the good or the bad. I've been moving forward ever since by piecing together my jigsaw past.

"James Chan" commented on James Chan's Blog "Late Night Meal in Portland, OR".Thank you, Diva. Sometimes I just like to let my mind wander. My writing output tends to have an erratic pattern; Live fast for a couple weeks, reflect, and repeat. New experiences keep me writing.

"Depth Writer" commented on James Chan's Blog "My Turn".Good Morning James (waves back at ya)... This is a very deep, emotional theme you've scribed here. Hurt is a varying factor!
