Affection for My Muse Ottava Rima

Published by: Sonnet Diva on 22nd Feb 2012 | View all blogs by Sonnet Diva

The Muse is my object of my affection

With my demanding Muse I sit and write

Writing well together no rejection

Fantasy or darkness it’s all delight

Amassing a poetry collection

Though she does keep me up so late at night

The Muse is active and gives little peace

I must admit writing gives me release

Such a demanding yet a zany Muse

She enjoys new forms and so loves to rhyme

With Fantasy Walls pictures do enthuse

Yet writing with her is more than part time

When she wants to write simply can’t refuse

My writing with her not an uphill climb

For my zany muse I have affection

Sometime our writes bring on introspection

Often I write when I find I can’t sleep

My Muse for me often fulfills a need

The Muses words into my head do creep

My fingers have trouble keeping up speed

Yet an active Muse I’m happy to keep

After she’s done I edit and reread

A demanding wench yet we do have fun

For this team I know writing’s never done

An Ottava Rim is a form where each line has 10-11 syllables in it. The Pattern for rhyme is:
    abababcc
    dededeff
    ghghghii
