The news gnomes keep informing
As pundits scream of mockery
And political zealots post every five seconds
On the current social media calendar

In a moment of boredom
That lasted several days
I joined them in a pseudo quasi freedom frenzy

Quoting Camus and Nietzsche
Searching for conspiracy under every stone pillar
Holding up the west wing which is holding up the world
At gunpoint

Looking past the inevitable folly
Handing out destruction permits
For mortared walls and mortal fools
I sipped upon black coffee
Reading all that can be attained
With the swiftness of a misplaced revolution

Endlessly it pours into the mind
Quelling introspection in the name of retrospection
Certainly we’ve heard this all before?

Degradation of the human spirit
Wholesale slavery at bargain prices
Endless war in the name of kings
Crucifixion of the saviors with a halftime show
And 3D commercials touting

Drugs that keep your dick hard
Jobs that keep your dick hard
Trucks that keep your dick hard
Vacations that keep your dick hard
Women that keep your dick hard

A scepter of fleshy splendor
Scorching the earth with jaded bombs
Heat seeking missiles and lead filled bullets

Which all look, not so surprisingly
Like pathetic penile projectiles

Looking out the window
Realizing I hadn’t contributed a single thing
A perpetual fence sitter waiting for the soft parade
I stood in the backyard and wondered
About the shape of things to come

Of course buildings would topple
Governments would crumble
Mountains would slide into the sea
And humans would one at a time and then all at once
See their last day on earth

A round globe spinning quietly
Around another globe spinning quietly
Within the vastness of space

Not a false phallic god in sight
