Brandy

By Sonnet Diva

*Listening to Looking Glass's song brandy, this is what came out

So lovely lady don’t get hooked on me

For out on the Sea I find that I am free

I can not stay I return to the Sea

Sailor’s life my responsibility

The Sea and waves beckon me I do find

Sorry that I’m not the marrying kind

I do care for you, but love the Sea more

Can’t stand the pain as your eyes do implore

I’ve told you the truth to you I can’t lie

It won’t be long before I say good by

Accept what I offer take what you need

I’ll return to the Sea that’s guaranteed

Always I’ll hold you in highest regard

Accept this is truth I know that it’s hard

Her options laid out she has to review

But she still loves this man that much is true

Oil changes, 80s music and love

By Grady

went to get my oil changed

by a cover band guitarist

at that saggy old blue garage

on Winslow

wanted to get some pointers

on the bebop half diminished scale

but he was trying to invite

a shapely brunette with a flat tire

to his Culture Club tribute

show at the Ugly Mug tonight

should've mentioned

his damsel in distress

had a fairly obvious Adam's apple

but I hate to step on a good

punch line

I escaped quickly

I didn’t want to be the next

to tell him I wasn’t interested

in revisiting the 1980s

for any reason

as I drove home

I noticed a flock of love bugs

having an airborne orgy

at a stoplight

when I took off

about a thousand winged lovers

splattered on my windshield

at least they died happy,

I thought

when I got back home

I was going to have a few cold beers

smoke a couple bowls of the Dro

and listen to my Whale Sounds CD

while killing pedestrians

on Grand Theft Auto

but my wife had drafted a different

version of a productive

Saturday afternoon

so, I’m riding my lawnmower

like Speed Racer

and begging my thoughts

to remain indoors

I figure that if I let my opinion

break through my lips

I’ll probably end up at the Mug

listening to an on tap remix

of Karma Chameleon

begging some poor drunkard

to share their germ infested couch

with a 35 year old loser

who hasn’t even mastered

the bebop half diminished scale

on his $40 yard sale guitar

happily boring

beats broke, lonely and uncool

no matter what equation

you use

God, I love that woman

almost as much as I hate

the sound of homelessness

The Poet in Me (Prose)

By Jason Anderson

The Poet in Me

He is an artisan who carefully crafts his masterpieces with the ink which pours from the pores of his flesh. Baring his soul into each of his works of art, he captivates the hearts of the readers who wants to be touched by his scribes. The pen is his brush which he brushes his painting of words against the papyrus which becomes his canvas, resulting in a poetic masterpiece written from his heart.

I guess that is just the poet in me.

He is a composer of lyrics that enchant the ears of those who yearn to hear the music of love like that created with the keys of a piano.  To conduct his symphony of beautiful words, he uses his pen like a baton in an intricate motion, orchestrating a chorus of deeply emotional melodies which grabs at the heart strings of the audience.

I guess that is just the poet in me.

He is an admirer of the gift which he has been blessed with by his father who lives in the ocean blue sky above in Heaven. For years he kept his emotions locked in the cage of his heart, refusing to let his voice be heard by the ears of his family and friends. One day, he took his pen in his hand and began writing down his first piece of written art which would ignite the flame of passion’s candle which he would hold in the embrace of his soul for eternity.

I guess that is just the poet in me.

Popotek Dreameyes

By Paul Grimwood

                     POPOTEK DREAMEYES

                        By Paul Grimwood

The assembly rooms were built in the Eighteenth century There are 16 stone pillars at the front of the building. It is situated just past the bridge, opposite the communial gardens.

They have tea dances there now. You might first notice the stone monument with the inscription that reads.Drink from the crisp waters. The stone bird engraved monument, houses a spring water tap. This area..the rooms, the gardens, the park,..seem nice. It is though...spooky.. in the extreme.

Those that can see ghosts and spirits, will only venture here once. Why you may ask? Because they see..too much.Time does not flow easy here.

The lady.. stops to drink the water..she wears a veil. Her skin is thin and aged beyond normal lifespans. When she turns to walk across the road, those early cars and horse drawn carriages stop as if frozen in time..along with their drivers and passengers. I could say more about the park and gardens....but it might petrify your very soul.

The Assembly rooms 1968

Popotek every friday..Psychedelic bands. We were young, life was exciting,Music was exciting. Fluid lights,Laughing, dancing. These were nights long ago.

For the most part, the boys would sit on the chairs on the left side of the room. The girls..on the right. I was shy. That one night I plucked up the courage to ask a girl to dance. She turned me down!!.Then a voice said.. "hey boy,I will dance with you ". I was over the moon!!yes!! The girl was (even for those days)dressed strange. Her clothes seemed..futuristic.Green flared jeans, embroiderd with gold birds. A gold Kaftan, with moons and stars on.Her face was painted with Blue and white combination stripes. She was very pretty..dark hair..oh but her eyes. They were like whirlpools of mystery..Just totally beautiful and very dreamlike. We danced. Then she said she had to go.I said to her " will you be here next Friday "?

She then said something strange. "Boy.. I will not be here next week. But on the other side of time..we will dance once more ,Then after we have danced we shall wait for the others,The dark Signalman,Your guardian,The Orange Jester, Yewagas,The M and... the other 35 anomalies "

"You will understand,By then you will..know.On that future timeless day..you and me will become as..one Ah you are about to ask my name??..just call me..The Eyes!!haa " She left. She never turned around.Every week I went back..she never came again. The girl who will now be a grown woman...stays in my mind, for she had...

The Wind Song

By Linda Garcia

The trees dance to different tunes

Wonderfully  soft and graceful they sway

To the slow gentle melody in the breeze

Ever so gentle back and forth, side to side

Arms outstretched to their sides in unison

Waving as they bend easily, elegantly

Left…………………………………………………………………………………………

Right……………………………………………………………………………..

Long,  fluid, deliberate and lingering

Left………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Right…………………………………………………………………………….

Almost hypnotizing you as you watch

Other times  dancing  outrageously

their passion showing In swift motions

with  a frenzy of movement

Arms flying passionately with wild abandonment

Up in the endless sky

With no awareness of anything around

Just listening and led by the sound

of the  music and  the song

that the wind plays and sings

the best is there is no charge

The show is for free

Sometimes Love Hurts a Mirrored refrain

By Sonnet Diva

 Sometimes Love Hurts mirrored refrain

Sometimes the memories take me back

The pain lingers just off the cuff

A  shattered heart that is not whole

Sometimes love just isn’t enough

I never know when they’ll attack

Into abyss I’ve lost control

Sometimes love just isn’t enough

A  shattered heart that is not whole

So often you are on my mind

Those feelings that I do rebuff

A  shattered heart that is not whole

Sometimes love just isn’t enough

Sometimes in love we just are blind

My innocence is what you stole

Sometimes love just isn’t enough

A shattered heart that is not whole

Pausing At The Beach

By Sonnet Diva
Photobucket
I close my eyes and feel their flow
A mediation that I know
The gritty sand upon my feet
A mind vacation very sweet
To pause and simply fly away
The ending of a stress filled day
I can almost hear the waves beat
A mind vacation very sweet
Feeling relief  upon a beach
To stop and pause I truly reach
This gentle pause almost complete
A mind vacation very sweet
I close my eyes and feel their flow
A mind vacation very sweet

Musicality I have Nothing If I don't Have You

By Sonnet Diva

Never have I felt such rapture

It feels as if the world stood still

Passionate love he did capture

Enter the Fantasy sublime

The promise of Eternal bliss

A Fantasy lover part time

A passionate kiss not to miss

Of him I’ll never get my fill

Fulfilling all my desires

It feels as if the world stood still

The promise of Eternal bliss

Passions arise as world’s collide

A passionate kiss not to miss

Enraptured love that won’t subside

Passion rises ignite the fires

No longer do I have to hide

Fulfilling all my desires

Passions arise as world’s collide

The blending of the Earth and Sea

Enraptured love that won’t subside

Tied together in Harmony

The tender feelings deep inside

He  clears up any mystery

No longer do I have to hide

The blending of the Earth and Sea

A Fantasy lover part time

Tied together in Harmony

Enter the Fantasy sublime

Yet by his side I need to be

Swirling  passions that keep me warm

He clears up any mystery

He is my harbor in the storm

Swirling  passions that keep me warm

Never have I felt such rapture

Passionate love he did capture
