A Tree For All Seasons
By Sonnet DivaA sentinel that once stood strong
Through the seasons it went along
In spring the green buds would appear
Toppled in a windstorm, so wrong
Signaling Spring’s finally here
Birds in her branches singing clear
Summer did come and he gave shade
A leafy green bower brought cheer
I watched a constant bird parade
In our side yard for a decade
Autumn would come with different hues
Under it’s branches my son played
As soon my tree it’s leaves would loose
The leaves we’d pluck to pick and chose
It was of deciduous caste
A time of wonder would amuse
In winter time a stark contrast
The snow and frost branches amass
I wish it’s life I could prolong
Withstanding all our arctic blast
